Sponsored by The South Dakota Department of Health. Required: Must be a first responder in South Dakota.

These individuals include:

  • law enforcement personnel, fire personnel, emergency medical services, dispatchers, and support staff.

 

About the training:

This is a 2-hour session that will provide an introduction to the topic of first responder resiliency! You will learn how stress and trauma affects one’s physiology, mental and physical health when working in this industry. You will also be given science-based tools on how to proactively mitigate these effects. For more in-depth training, please register for one of our 4-hour trainings on November 29 or December 1.

 

Syllabus

This training includes the following subject matter:

  • Neuroanatomy and the physiological Impacts of Trauma
  • Relationship between Stress and The Nervous System
  • Mindfulness-based Practices
  • The Importance of Sleep
  • Emotional, Relational, and Psychological Impacts
